If there is a particular date you require in regards to this item eg. for a birthday or anniversary etc please ask. The Illustrated London News was a newspaper founded by Herbert Ingram with the first edition appearing on 14 May 1842. It was the world's first illustrated weekly newspaper. If the ILN has "Reprint" at the top of front page, it indicates that this days issue completely exceeded the publishers' expectations; that this particular issue had to be reprinted possibly several times on that date. Eleven pages (22 sides). It measures 395 x 290 mm (15.5 x 11.25inches). The spine is loose with binding witness marks where once bound, there is age yellowing to the pages. The images are in black and white unless otherwise stated. Some of the pages may be loose, and have minor cuts tears and blemishes due to their great age - anything more than minor will be mentioned in the main body of the description. The engravings vary in size. Any watermarks on images are for display only and not on the original engravings. This item will be packaged in a tube. PLEASE NOTE: I cannot guarantee that the issue is complete 'as published' - but what I have described above IS present. As far as I can tell there is one page missing, so if you are looking for something in particular in this issue PLEASE ASK.
