Description: Original 1853 antique lithographed survey map, drawn under the direction of John R. Bowes, Agent, and printed more than 170 years ago. This map is drawn on a scale of 200 feet to one inch and is titled "Harbor of St. Joseph, Michigan." The image area measures 42.5 x 29 cm [16¾" x 11½"], and details include soundings, piers, and locations of the shore line at various years between 1838 and 1853. It was lithographed by James Ackerman, 377 & 379 Broadway, New York, and published in a report by the President of the United States to the First Session of the 33rd Congress, Washington, D.C., 1853. Condition: It is in very good condition, bright and clean, with folds, as issued, and no marks or writing. It is printed on a lightweight paper, typical of mid-19th century government fold-outs, and it has light toning along one fold. It is blank on the back, with no printing on the reverse side. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions. This is an original, authentic antique map, not a reproduction or modern reprint, and it is fully guaranteed to be genuine.
