Description: Interesting edition from Gilbert Abbot a Beckett’s “Comic History” Series, Illustrated by John Leech. It is an ex-Library copy from the Boston Atheneum “from the income of the fund given by John Bromfied of Boston, merchants, b 1779 d 1849/Received November 29, 1856” and subsequently, cancelled or de-accessioned. It has lost its title page which has been replaced by a hand typed title page with a nominal amount of information. The hand colored frontispiece is intact; the various black and white in-text illustrations are intact as are the rest of the plates, being ten in all. There are some chips to some of them that impact the margins moreso than the image. There are some torn pages and chipping while the marbled binding has extensive rub and loss of leather at hinges and corners.
