Description: 1848 Seated Liberty Half Dime (Large Date) in About Extra Fine condition with nice contrasts, surfaces, & secondary toning. There is a slight 5 - 10 Degree Die Rotation. This coin was once lightly cleaned in the past & is slowly starting to re-tone. The Large Date on this coin was caused when a mint employee used larger date die punches that were to be used for the larger dimes. This coin has a lower mintage of 668,000 for all types & this variety only made up a much smaller percentage of this number. There are only about 160 survivors for this variety making it a R-4. A very attractive rare coin especially in this grade & condition.
