First published in 1842, this is a very early printing published by Rudolph Ackermann in London. Condition: 8vo. 548 pp. Beautifully bound in full calf leather with marbled edges and endpapers and doublure with elaborate gilt tooled borders. Black leather spine label stamped in gilt along with intricate gilt stamping and tooling in a hunting motif along the spine. Illustrated with a steel-engraved frontispiece by T.A. Prior; wood engravings throughout the text from sketches by the author engraved by E. Landells, including an additional pictorial title page. Light edgewear with rubbing to the corners and a bit of rubbing and soiling to the leather of the front and rear boards. A closed tear has been professionally repaired on page "1" following the table of contents. The plates and engravings are in beautiful condition. A number of interior pages do show a few spots of foxing. Overall, a wonderful addition to your hunting and sporting collection.
