It is from a circa 1849 Stieler's Hand Atlas, published in Gotha by Justus Perthes, a copy of the title page is included. Although Stieler didn't date the title pages of his early atlases, more importantly he did date the maps very accurately with the actual design date and often a revision date: this map is dated "1830, revised 1845" in the title area. Stieler's Hand Atlas appears in the top right margin. The map is not mounted, matted nor framed being sold as a single map as seen in the first pic. Size: The map area measures approximately 12 x 14 inches (35x40cm) on a 14 x 17 1/2" page (37x45cm) Condition: Good condition, blank on reverse, deckled bottom edge, printed on heavy cotton paper with strong original hand color outlining as issued. There are a few smudges in the margins and a couple of dampstains around the margins and slightly into the map, see the pics. Otherwise it fairly clean with a antique appearance.
