Description: We are pleased to be selling thousands of early engravings, lithographs, and prints from the incredible collection amassed by Winfield Robbins (1840-1910) of Arlington, Massachusetts. After his death in 1910, the collection was donated to local institutions where it has sat for the last 100+ years with small additions being made by family members in later years. The collection covers many styles of works over numerous centuries so be sure to check back regularly for new listings. This listing is for a very nice 1842 engraving depicting Sir Robert Peel who served twice as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The impression measures 9 1/2" x 7 3/8" and the sheet measures 13 3/4" x 11". Attached at the bottom of the sheet is an original signature of Robert Peel that looks like was on the bottom of a letter that has a House of Commons stamp next to the signature. Like many of the prints in the collection, they have been nicely placed in a mat with the piece only being attached lightly with tape in the top back corners.
