The poems are printed in their original languages, ranging from Latin, Anglo-Norman, and French, with an English translation. Some of the songs include 'Song of the Siege of Thouars', 'Song of the Welsh', 'The Order of Fair-Ease', 'Against the Pride of Ladies', and more.Edited and translated by Thomas Wright. Wright was an antiquarian, who devoted himself to a literary career after contributing to various periodicals whilst studying at Cambridge. Wright helped found the Camden Society, who published this book.With the armorial bookplate of George Ulick Browne, 6th Marquess of Sligo and his wife, Agatha, to the front pastedown. CONDITION In a half morocco binding, with cloth covered boards. Gilt detailing to spine. Light rubbing to back strip head and tail, with fading to perimeters of cloth of rear board. Hinges strained but firmly held. Bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting to first few leaves, with pages otherwise clean and bright.
