Description: Campaign Biography Description: Anonymous: A Sketch of the Life and Public Services of William Henry Harrison. Columbus, Printed by Scott and Wright, Journal Offices, 1836, 36 pages. Black title on blue wraps. First Edition. No. 63 in Miles. String binding holds well. There is a ¾” piece missing along the top of the front cover. Some minor spotting throughout, but in general this piece is very clean. One of the earlier campaign biographies. Campaign biographies were the political television commercials of the 19th century. Written by friends and supporters of a candidate, they extolled his virtues including his honesty, his patriotism, his humility and service to the country, along with his general religious nature (without specifying a particular denomination). Generally, they avoided any type of negative commentary.
