Description: Rare original 1836 copy of Smollett’s “The Expedition of Humprhy Clinker,” which is illustrated by George Cruikshank with 4 black and white plates as called for. The book is overall in good condition with some signs of wear and age. The covers have some moderate wear. The binding is good and sound. There is a small hole to the endpapers. The interior is lightly toned from age with some foxing and a few pages have some minor staining. There is an inked name inscription to the front flyleaf and a penciled one to the title page. Along with that there may be the very occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection such as a tiny chip or tear, light bit of soiling or grubbiness, minor marking, creased page corner, minor interior crack, etc. Generally though, it's a good copy. The book measures approximately 7 5/8 inches by 4 3/4 inches and is 400 pages long. Please look at all of the photos to further note the condition.
