Description: I have here for sale a 2 volume set (complete) of A HISTORY OF BRITISH BIRDS by THOMAS BEWICK. Published for T. Bewick: Sold by him, Longman and Co, London. Both volumes are profusely illustrated throughout with woodcuts, for which Thomas Bewick is renowned. Vol 1 : Land Birds.xliv, 394pp Vol 2 : Water Birds. xxii, 432pp Bound by RIVIERE & SONS, in full leather boards. Gilt title lettering to red and brown blocks on the spine, with gilt decoration between the raised bands with some loss. Gilt fore-edges.The board and spine edges are worn. Repairs have been undertaken sometime, with the boards reinforced. Leather is dry & cracked on the surface of the boards and the spines with age. Pages are generally clean and bright, with only a little scattered spotting. The books are in good condition, tightly bound with no loose or missing pages . 25cm x 16cm. Postage and packing : I know that you will be looking forward to receiving your order, each book is carefully wrapped in packing paper ( I have changed from bubble wrap to try and reduce my use of plastic) and posted in a Jiffy bag if size permitting, if not it is double wrapped in corrugated cardboard, brown paper and then securely taped. To keep the cost of the postage down to the most economical level per book, you may consider buying more than 1 item from my eBay account. You can then request a combined postage cost and I will combine the items into the fewest parcels as possible - saving you money :) My main posting days are Monday and Thursday ie.
