In 1817, he took the government to court over censorship in a battle of press freedom.Illustrated by George Cruikshank (1792-1878), a British caricaturist and illustrator, most renowned for his work for Charles Dickens and on 'The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman'.Containing a folding plate.Loosely inserted is the original newspaper clipping containing this work.A very scarce and important satire. CONDITION Unbound. Generally smart, with a little wear to the edges. Firmly bound; pages are a little spotted in places. Newspaper clipping has a large tear.
