Description: *PLEASE SEE MY LISTINGS FOR MORE COLLECTABLES, ANTIQUES & EPHEMERA A fabulous ORIGINAL hand-coloured engraving from the rare early 19th century series called 'Costumes d'Ouvrieres Paris' (tradeswomen of Paris) circa 1816-1824. (Ref.COLAS 1764). The artist is Lante and the engraver, Gatine. This is plate 31 (of 47) showing a student artist. She is wearing a monocle and carrying her oil paints.I wonder what she was expected to paint, as she does not seem to be very suitably dressed. There are creases and scuffs and the surface is quite grubby and would benefit from cleaning with a soft rubber. There are a few nicks to edges. Faults would be greatly improved by the framing process. She is a charming young lady and the hand-painting is of a very high quality, especially her shawl. Plate measures approx 12.75" x 9". Will be sent in a postal tube for protection. I have been an extensive collector of old and unusual books, prints and other ephemera over many years.
