In fair condition. Moderate wear to extremities with scuffing to corners and edges. Head and tail on spine are slightly crushed/rounded. Scuffing and scratching to surface of leather. End papers soiled and damp stained with old hand signature of Archibald McBurgode (?) on pastedown. L.C. Rice’s signature on the fly. The frontis is torn down center with 2” rip. The eyes of Fisher’s frontis have been rubbed out. Plate at page 54 is mostly missing with larger segment gone. Interior toned and soiled with chipped edges. Rear end papers soiled with interesting colored ink ownerships dated 1843. Blue inks were less used than the “common ink” made of iron gall. This is likely made with indigo or Prussian blue pigments.
