'The Memoirs of the Life and Writings of Sir Philip Sydney' (1808), was written by the notable biographer and Church of England clergyman, Thomas Zouch and dedicated to Zouch's nephew William Lowther, now earl of Lonsdale. The text was written in response to the unflattering character given to Sidney by Horace Walpole. With the armorial bookplate for Samuel Edward Cook to the front pastedown.
