M. W. Turner.Written by James Thomson (1700-1748), a British poet and playwright, known for having written the words of 'Rule, Britannia', as well as 'The Seasons' and 'The Castle of Indolence'. This was his most influential work.With engravings by Thomas Bewick (1753-1828), who also illustrated 'Aesop's Fables' as well as his own natural history and ornithological works. From illustrations by John THurston (1774-1822), a British illustrator known for this work.In a charming leather binding with gilt detail to the spine and covers. CONDITION In a full straight grain morocco binding. Externally, generally smart, with the title having rubbed away on the spine, which is a little rubbed to the joints, as are the extremities. Ownership bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with just the odd spot.
