1800's Greek Ships Framed & Matted Trio (Set of 3)

Description: Antique Ship & Waterscape Prints of the Grecian Coast. Originally book-bound; These prints range in age from 1822-1839, and feature one Greek and two French-inscribed prints. Professionally matted in a light Royal Blue, in a custom green and gold antique frame. Greek-inscribed ship (page 10) portrays the 1822 Battle of Nauplia, in which Greek ships were triumphant over invading Ottoman Naval forces in the Argolikos Bay. French-inscribed prints depict a naval battle from the Greek War of Independence in which Lord Dundonald Gochrane's fleet of Greek Revolutionary Navy ships were triumphant over Ottoman advances (page 20); and of a seascape of Sporades (page 24). Hellas, deviant pile de Lante, 1 Aout 1828, L'Hellas etait commandee par P'Admiral Anglais Lord Dundonald Gochrane, au service des Hellines, Gette beble prise incorporee dans pa flotte Greeque sous le uorie de HYDRA y rendit de grands services, L'Hydra ansique l'Hellas. Participerent en Julliet 1831, au mouvement des Hydriots contre le Pt Capodistria qui audit pour lui l'escardre Russe de p'admiral Ricord qui provoqua des hostilites a Poros. Deviant le danger de tombre au pouvoir des Russes ces deaux navires se firent sauter a Poros le 31 Julliet 1831.
