Description: Original 1880s-c.1890 cabinet card of an outdoorswoman wearing fringed outdoor skirts and hat, a travelling satchel over her shoulder and her shotgun leaning against the wall . She is wearing an unusual belt with an object tucked in it, possibly a knife. Written on the back is a note, plus the name "Aunt Bertha". It's possible she was a "Pedestrienne", a woman who participated in competitive, long-distance walking, a popular form of sports entertainment in the 1880s. There was a famous pedestrienne named Bertha Von Hillern, who was also a hunter and artist... I'm wondering if this is BVH. Cabinet card is 6.5 x 4.5 inches and is in overall very good antique condition with light aging and stains. Shipping: First Class (flat photo mailer).
