The obverse shows the Grocer's (John Fielding), arms, with a shield, with a griffin on either side, saddled camel on the top, and a banner at the bottom inscribed with "GOD GRANT GRACE". Around the border is the legend "MANCHESTER PROMISSORY HALFPENNY". The reverse shows the bale mark of the East India Company, in the center of a shield, with "PAYABLE AT INO. FIELDING'S GROCER AND TEA DEALER". The edge is plain. The piece is a nice medium to dark brown color, and shows nice surfaces.
