1763 FRENCH & INDIAN WAR TREATY ZINC MEDAL COLONIAL AMERICA S-877

Description: Offered here is a beautiful zinc medal issued in 1763 for the treaty that ended the French and Indian wars in North America. This one is a zinc version and is quite elusive. There are several types of this medal with some in different sizes and metals. This zinc version is quite scarce compared to the others. Seldom encountered. I have a silver version up now as well. A young George Washington led some of the British forces in the early going. He of course would later fight against the British for American independence. In Europe the war there was called the 7 years' war. But here in America it was the French and Indian war which pitted the French and their Indian allies against the British. Britain prevailed and won control of North America as well as most of the Caribbean. General version is listed as Betts 446, and this is a zinc example. A beautiful 44mm medal with the obverse showing Peace standing holding a scepter and a spear of wheat, legend above "Now She Dares Return." A landscape in the background with a man plowing a field. Exerge Germania Facata. The reverse has the building (STADT HOUSE) in Hubertusburg, where the treaty was made. Legend above NUNCIA PACIS "The Messenger of Peace."
