Description: "A Jesuit Nun."A genuine antique engraving taken from Thomas Jeffery's "Collection of Dresses of Different Nations Ancient and Modern" which was published between 1757 - 1772.Titled with the French underneath, "Religieuse Jesuite" and with plate number 135 bottom right. One of a number of such engravings I am listing on ebay. Jeffery's illustrations were after various artists - Holbein, Hollar, Van Dyck, etc. The work was issued in 4 volumes, the number of plates totalling 480. The ones I am offering for sale have been beautifully handcoloured, and taken from a scrapbook which has preserved the watercolours. Most of the prints are laid down on pink linen. A scarce print from a wonderful collection. It would frame up beautifully. Size: the sheet measures 24cms x 20cms.Condition: The print is in a good condition, other than a few small creases. I think it has been trimmed at the edges.
