Full leather folio with more modern spine. Overall very good. Some rubbing and wear to exterior, including a stain to the front board. Spine remains nice with light scuffing at head and heel. Hinges remain in good condition, with some cracking to starting at front and rear. Text block preserved quite nicely and bound well. Includes bookplates from the Thomas Newcomen Library in Chester County, Pennsylvania, and of Hugh Robert Hughes of Kimmel. A small assortment of full-page plates present throughout. Text remains clean and easy to read. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. A scarce piece on the life of English cardinal Thomas Wolsey (1473-1530). An impressively preserved folio that has been neatly restored along the spine.
