Description: 1\72 plastic model kit Bat Project 72006WW I Siemens-Schuckert D.I early versionPropeller Siemens-Schuckert D.I In general, the design of these machines, as well as their external forms, almost exactly corresponded to Nieuport, with the exception, perhaps, of the outline of the hood, the design and damping scheme of the tail spike, as well as the inter-wing struts, which were made not of wood, but made of steel pipes with aluminum fairings. The first prototype of the aircraft, named Siemens-Schuckert D.I, was ready in September 1916. During testing, it showed good flight data, which was no worse, and in some ways even better, than that of the original model. In October, engineer Bruno Steffen, who personally took part in testing the prototype, reached a ceiling of 5000 meters on it - a good indicator for that time. Moreover, the early Fokker fighters could not climb above 3500 m, and for the relatively new Nieuport-16 the maximum altitude was 4800 m. On November 25, the company received an order for 150 copies of the Siemens-Schuckert D.I. Serial production began in December at factories in Berlin and Nuremberg.
