Description: An original complete issue of the very first coffeehouse paper, "The Tatler", publ 1709-1711 in London by Richard Steele with Joseph Addison & Jonathan Swift, all 3 using the pseudonym " Isaac Bickerstaff", features satirical accounts of coffeehouse visits, gossip & social customs of gentlemen. The paper also advertises cures for "consumption, colick, venereal disease. The Tatler was the first & most widely read gossip sheet in England and IN Colonial America, renamed "The Spectator" in 1711, giving rise to a host of imitators & establishing coffeehouse news as a genre. The complete 2pp 13 x 8", single sheet paper issued April 8-April 11, 1709 during the reign of Queen Anne and the first Rising of the Jacobites has age spots, edge wear, and is Overall VG.Welcome to my Ebay Auctions and Ebay Store.
