Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Available for sale are seventeen (17) original, unpublished 35mm Realist-format Kodachrome stereo color slides taken in 1981 and which document the interior of the 1927 Pullman coach Robert Peary. These slides come with a viewer which allows them to be seen in 3-D. Named after polar explorer Robert Peary, this steel heavyweight car was built by the Pullman Company in July 1927 as one of six cars in the Explorer series. It was operated by the Pullman Company for private-party use. President Franklin D. Roosevelt used this car 34 times in 1934, 1935, and 1936. Others who reportedly using the Robert Peary in the 1930s included opera star Lily Pons, and screen stars Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald. In 1973 was used in filming Executive Action with Burt Lancaster & Robert Ryan. In October 1976, it was used in filming MacArthur starring Gregory Peck. Because of the Robert Peary’s cramped interior, the photographer wisely chose to photo-document the fittings and furnishings. These 35mm stereo slides come from a non-smoking household and were processed and mounted by Kodak in 1981. Because they were photographed on Kodachrome film, the colors are still bright and fresh.
