Description: A strong & powerful very long Sword ! Note: I'm using same description & photos that we have on our web-site Owazamono. & same asking price as well. Owari Ujifusa Katana, Jo Saku, ca. 1590’s Paper / certificate: NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon A superb example of the types of swords known as Keicho Shinto. This is a work by the 1st generation Ujifusa who began his career in Mino but eventually established his lineage in Owari. Ujifusa is considered to be one of the ‘Owari San Saku’, or Three Great Swordsmiths of the Owari Province, along with Nobutaka and Masatsune. This sword showcases his ability in blending the Mino tradition, Soshu tradition, and the Shinto tradition that was evolving at this time. The blade features a strong, straighter sugata, defined by a thick kasane and elongated kissaki. The blade has both bo-hi deep grooves and soe-hi narrow grooves on both sides. The nakago is ubu and signed Hida no Kami Fujiwara Ujifusa. The jigane is a well-refined and moist itame hada. The Soshu-style notare-ba hamon displays profuse nie activities along with a complex layered effect. Nie sparkles all along a thick nioi guchi on both sides. The hamon finishes in a thick maru boshi.
