This is a fair examples of a vintage British BRONZE coin with a lovely dark patina, and very nice ridge details. To be clear, I am not a dealer, just selling off my family estate. These books and coins have been part of our family for many years, I hope you enjoy them as much as we have. Books are timeless, so a used book is a great deal. Translation: George the Fifth by the Grace of God King of all the Britains Defender of the Faith Emperor of India Engraver: Edgar Bertram MacKennal Reverse Seated figure of Britannia right, with trident in left hand and shield bearing the Union flag in right, sea behind, denomination above and date in exergue. Lettering: ONE PENNY date Engraver: Leonard Charles Wyon Edge Plain Where it came from: These vintage coins were in my Father-in-Law’s estate. My FIL’s father spent much of his life on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia, where he was an Engineer and manager of a copra factory. He was a British national, educated in England so he probably traveled to Spain at some point in the ‘60s. Most coins have had very little circulation. They were simply stored in plastic baggies, in a nonsmoking, airconditioned house for the last 40 years. A few are discolored. Most show very nice ridge detail and were only lightly circulated. Because of the large number of coins in this lot I don’t show details of each coin but that can be negotiated. Numista rates these at 92.8% silver.
