Description: I have to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. THIS IS MY LAST ONE! Trumpeter made a name for themselves producing big scale tanks and aircraft carriers. Their USS Hornet was a landmark release and a tremendous success for them. They seemed to make it their mission to fill out their lineup of carriers and other capital ships, while improving their accuracy and detail with each release. HMS Warspite was the second of five Queen Elizabeth class battleships (super dreadnoughts) laid down just before WWI. She served in both World Wars and had the distinction of holding the most battle honors for an individual ship in the Royal Navy's history, with 15. This is Trumpeter’s stellar kit of the HMS Warspite as she appeared in 1942, during her time in the Indian Ocean. Warspite served in Norway, the Mediterranean, the Indian Ocean and Normandy, being damaged several times. She survived the war, only to be towed for scrapping, run aground and eventually broken up on the beach from 1951 to 1955. The large scale of this model allows for considerable detail. They also provide a history of the HMS Warspite and some basic specs on the kit (painfully translated): HMS Warspite battleship belonging to the Royal Navy built the Queen Elizabeth class battleships. There are over a dozen photos of the hull and deck parts and the nicely molded sprues. He then described the construction sequence, the PE parts and the decals. He pointed out some inaccuracies in the hull shape and his Conclusion contained: “I can still recommend this kit, but with the reservations above, as she will still have the look of this great ship if you can live with the inaccuracies, or maybe put the extra effort in and waterline it.” Eusi Workshop posted a 25-minute In-Box Review on YouTube that starts with a look at the painting guide and instruction set. Next, we get a very good look at the plastic parts and the PE fret. I was impressed with the foam wraps and plastic bags to protect the parts in shipping. This kit is in a large well-decorated 25” x 7.5” x 4” box. As you can see from the pictures, the box is immaculate and still sealed with shrink wrap, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains a complete injection molded model with about 540 grey plastic parts and one fret of photo etched metal parts along with a small decal sheet to make a detailed full-hull replica of the British Battleship HMS Warspite as she appeared in 1942.
