Description: I have to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. I built the original Airfix 1/24 Spitfire and Bf 109 kits about 22 years ago. They were simple kits using technology from the 60s and 70s, which was when I made most of my models. The kit was just as I remembered from making Revell, Italeri and Monogram models. This kit is far removed from those classic kits and is a modern reboot of the Spitfire from 2022. It makes my model look like a kid’s toy (which it kinda was). The large scale lends itself to older eyes and to some creative superdetailing. I only found a handful of listings for this kit on eBay (getting hard-to-find), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this kit to you very quickly. Here is what I have found online about this very modern kit: The Airfix sites (uk.airfix.com com and hornbyhobbies.com) do not have a listing for this kit, although one site displays the newest Spitfire release (Mk. VIII - #A17002). From other sources, I have found the following information about this iconic British fighter aircraft: One of the most impressive features associated with the enduring legacy of the Spitfire is how its basic design was able to be adapted and upgraded so effectively throughout the Second World War and how the final variants of this magnificent aircraft were far more capable that the ones which first arrived at RAF Duxford during the summer of 1938. With the Spitfire undergoing almost constant development to enable it to stay at the forefront of fighter technology during WWII, this vital work was interrupted by the introduction of the Luftwaffe's fearsome new Focke Wulf Fw190 in 1941, an aircraft which was superior to the Spitfire Mk.V which was in widespread service at the time. Scalemates.com has a listing that shows the dramatic box art and tells us it is a brand-new 2022 tooling. They provide a link to download the complete stunning, full-color 44-page instruction set and 6-page painting guide. They also provide plenty of links to reviews, references, books and photo galleries of completed projects to help you with your build. Mike posted a tremendous In-Box Review on the britmodeller.com forum site that has two dozen awesome photos of the sprues and parts to show the state-of-the-art quality of the tooling. He methodically describes the construction sequence and points out features and areas to keep an eye on. He even walks you through the options available before announcing his Conclusion: “This is a very impressive successor to the original 70s era “Super Kits” of yore, and brings a huge quantity of detail to the party that will look great under a few coats of paint and maybe some sympathetic weathering. It’s a beauty, with some subtle overlapping panels and oil-canning of the skin, and has been well-worth the wait. Very highly recommended.” FatBoy's Scale Model Shop released a 30-minute Unboxing Video on YouTube that is free from narration. He empties the box and starts the review with scrutiny of the detailed instruction book and painting guides. The spectacular decals are shown in extreme detail. It takes another 20 minutes to get through all of the large fuselage and wing parts and the abundant sprues. It all goes back in the box (which is quite an achievement) before he fades out. Brett Green (as hyperscale) delivered an exquisite 15-minute Unboxing Video on YouTube that gives you a fantastic view of these gloriously molded parts. I really value Brett’s opinions, and he was floored by the extensive detail and quality of this release. He especially liked the subtle surface texture, oil canning, recessed panel lines and internal detail in the canopy and gun bays, in particular. The kit is in a large, dramatically illustrated box about 18.5” x 10” x 4.5”. As you can see from the pictures, the kit is in perfect condition and is still sealed with tape disks, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains over 400 grey and clear plastic parts and a large sheet of amazing Cartograf decals to create your very own large-scale Supermarine Spitfire Mk. IXc. It requires (lots of) paint and cement to complete as shown. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays the winning bid, and for a limited time, I am offering this large and bulky item with $14 Flat Rate Shipping in the US! No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions and listings for combined shipping. Good luck! Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
