Description: What a beautiful fine bone china platter made by Aynsley in England! It is decorated with the classic Pembroke pattern of a blue bird amongst blue, pink and red flowers, which a reproduction of a pattern they made in the 18th century. This pattern is still popular after hundreds of years! Could be just the thing to serve sandwiches, or cookies during a festive meal or get together. Or the flat middle is just the size to hold a birthday cake or lots of cupcakes. And then so pretty to display! The pattern is on top of the glaze, so it would be best to wash by hand to prevent the pattern from dulling. The plate is 12 & 1/4 inches inches in diameter with a flat area in the middle of about 10 & 1/4 inches and weighs 1 pound 14 ounces. It is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or crazing, and looking at an angle to the light I see just a few very faint marks in the shiny glaze. The shiny gold on the edge shows minimal wear. The backstamp on the pieces was used after the 1970’s. Aynsley China was founded in 1775 by John Aynsley in Staffordshire England. Aynsley is known for its high quality fine bone china and bird and floral designs. They received a warrant from Queen Elizabeth II in 1955, but were bought out by Belleek of Ireland in 1997. Their Stoke-on-Trent factory closed in 2014, but their name and products are still under license and made around the world.
