Description: Presented is an antique set of 12 Irish sterling silver spoons made in Dublin in 1801. This early 19th century, Georgian set is completely hand crafted.. The front of each spoon is hand engraved in a classic Irish Star pattern and has a crest of a castle turret or fort with a flame on top, which is the charge on the top of the Hopkins coat of arms. These are dessert or place size spoons. All of the spoons bear the crowned harp for the city of Dublin and the Hibernia mark for sterling silver purity. 11 of the spoons bear a date letter E for the year 1801 and a maker's mark of the initials JB. One spoon bears a date letter R for the year 1789 and has a worn maker's mark. This set is in excellent overall condition for its age and the engravings are crisp. There is very minor surface wear much better than what you would expect from 220 plus years old. There are no damages and no repairs. Length: 6 3/4 inches. Weight: 313 grams.
