Description: I want to clear some space on my shelves (and this almost fills a shelf by itself), so I need to part with some of my collection. THIS IS MY LAST ONE! I have long suspected a connection between Hobby Boss and Trumpeter. Their individual company websites have obvious similarities, and their product lines seem derivative. It turns out that they are both brands of the Yatai Electric Appliances company and even share a Facebook page. Hobby Boss has just put out this enormous Bf109E, possibly using the expertise of the excellent Trumpeter engineering department (although there are rumors that this mold was to be used for a 21st Century Toys product). In this scale, you will have the opportunity to super-detail this behemoth but may have a hard time finding a place to properly display it. This kit is not particularly hard-to-find on eBay (mostly from China and Europe) but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have it in stock and can reliably ship this kit very quickly. Here are some of the details about this amazing kit that I found from around the web: The hobbyboss.com site was down, but their importer (MRC at modelrectifier.com) gives the dramatic box art and information about this outstanding kit, along with a detailed blurb: The Messerschmitt Bf 109 was a German World War II fighter aircraft designed by Willy Messerschmitt in the early 1930s. It was one of the first true modern fighters of the era, including such features as an all-metal monocoque construction, a closed canopy, and retractable landing gear. Having gone through its baptism of fire in the Spanish Civil War, the Bf 109 was still in service at the dawn of the jet age at the end of World War II, during which it was the backbone of the German Luftwaffe fighter force. The E-4 saw the engine mounted cannon finally abandoned. The wing mounted cannons were upgraded to the MG FF/M, which gave a higher rate of fire. The cockpit canopy was also modified. It first appeared in July 1940 and played a significant role in the Battle of Britain. German figures for fighter losses show 249 E-1s, 32 E-3s and 344 E-4s lost in the second half of 1940. It would have been relatively easy to upgrade a 109E-3 to the E-4 specifications, and this is what may have happened to many of the older fighters. Scalemates.com shows that this is a brand-new tooling from 2021. There are dozens of links to reviews, books and walkarounds to help you get things just right. Bengineering did a short (2-minute) Unboxing Video on YouTube where he opens the box and shows each sprue and parts bag to let you see what you get. There is also a longer (4-minute) video showing a size comparison of 1/32, 1/24 and this huge 1/18 scale Bf109 models. He motorized his to taxi around, but that does not come with the kit. Darren Baker posted a lengthy In Box Review on aeroscale.net that comes with 17 high-resolution photos of the sprues, fuselage, wings, decals and metal parts. He gives his impressions of the kit quality and features. He feels it would be an excellent kit for newcomers since it has a relatively low parts count and build complexity. In his Conclusion, he says: “It is big, easily assembled and depending on painting ability a colourful model that could be visually pleasing.” Chris Gibson did a nice Build Review on reviews.ipmsusa.org that starts with a brief history of the Bf109. He goes through each major construction step, offering insights as he goes. He gives us 17 high-resolution photos of the parts, his build progress and his beautifully finished model. He was a little disappointed in some details (cockpit, panel lines, landing gear angle, etc.) but his Conclusion contains: “In the end I think the model turned out pretty well. I believe this kit would be great for a young person getting into model building, its simple but a little demanding with fit.” This kit is in a massive, beautifully illustrated box about 22” x 12.5” x 3”. As you can see from the pictures, the package is pristine and still sealed with the original shrink wrap, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains one complete injection molded plastic model kit with grey and clear plastic parts, several rubber and metal parts and a large, colorful sheet of decals (mislabeled as HobbyBoos). It requires cement and paint to complete as shown. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays winning bid and for a limited time, this gargantuan and heavy (around 4 pounds) item is offered with $14 Flat Rate Shipping in the US! No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions and listings for combined shipping. Good luck! Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
