Description: 10+ Seeds New 2024 Crop Cork Oak Acorns from Southern CA - Quercus SuberThe bark of the cork oak is the source material for many manufactured items including real cork wine stoppers, flooring, shoe soles, the centers of cricket balls, etc. The trees can endure drought and are long-lived, with some specimens living hundreds of years. You will receive 10+ Cork Oak acorns seeds from southern California similar to those in the pictures. I don’t perform any germination testing on these acorns, though several “reject” acorns germinated easily on their own in my compost pile. These acorns are an elongated round shape with a green or brown bottom measuring approximately 1/2 inch wide and 1 1/2 inches long. These seeds were cleaned in plain water to float test and dispel debris, then air dried. These were all “sinkers” on their sides in the water when they were cleaned, but the float test is not always reliable, so viability for planting can’t be guaranteed. These are just the acorns, no caps and they are seed-quality for planting, as food for deer, squirrels, birds, etc. but can also be used for crafts and décor (they will turn a lighter brown in color as they dry). You will receive a couple extra acorns; they will be refloated, brought to room temperature before packing and will be padded and shipped via USPS First Class in a cushioned envelope. These are fresh seeds, so if not planted right away, please store them in the refrigerator or allow them to dry for crafts.
