You are bidding on 10 ALABAMA CRIMSON HONEYSUCKLE SEEDS - Lonicera sempervirens 'Alabama Crimson'.If you’ve shied away from adding honeysuckle to your landscape in the past because you were afraid that it would be invasive nature would take over your yard, This is the one for you. ‘Alabama Crimson’ is a crimson-flowered cultivar that typically grows 10-20’ long. This non-invasive honeysuckle is a very showy vine is noted for its dark blue-green leaves, tubular crimson flowers and red berries.The tube-shaped 2-inch flowers attract butterflies, hummingbirds and bees. The bright crimson flowers (to 2” long) in terminal whorls bloom primarily from May to June, with some sporadic additional bloom until fall. It’s low maintenance, deer resistant and usually pest and disease-free. USDA Hardiness Zones - 4-9 Height - 10.00 to 20.00 Feet Spread - 3.00 to 6.00 feet Light Requirement - Full Sun Bloom Time: May to Jun Medicinal use : The plant has expectorant and laxative properties. A syrup made from the flowers has been used in the treatment of respiratory diseases whilst a decoction of the leaves is considered beneficial in treating diseases of the liver and spleen. It is used as a mouthwash for ulcers and is considered to be a good ingredient in gargles. The flowers are antispasmodic, astringent, diuretic, expectorant, febrifuge and sudorific. The fruit is emetic and cathartic. The herbage is used as a cutaneous and mucous tonic and as a vulnerary. It is also diaphoretic. The leaves are laxative and slightly astringent. The seed is diuretic. The bark is anticatarrhal, depurative, diuretic and sudorific.
