He used his experiences growing up in the Upper Midwest and Central Plains in selecting designs representative of the indigenous tribes of North America.On the obverse side of 1 oz Asahi Buffalo Silver Rounds is the bust of an indigenous figure. This tribal figure is shown with a stoic look on his face and braided hair that has feathers woven into it.
