Description: Excellent for use with 1-1/2 inch or 1-1/4 inch Photomultiplier Tubes! Also for use in the replacement of old 1" Sodium Iodide canned scintillators. FULLY POLISHED AND READY TO INSTALL. Sized at ~1-3/8" by ~1.5" length, these are precut round blocks with all sides polished of Bicron BC-408 Scintillator Plastic. This material is a Premium Plastic Scintillator Material, tested and guaranteed to work for gamma radiation detection when coupled to a PMT and built into a probe. This size is perfect for use with 1-1/2 inch PMT, or even a 1-1/4 tube. I often sell these for use as a direct replacement of damaged 1" canned sodium iodide scintillators, found in many popular scintillator detectors. Great replacement scintillator for the PRI Model 111, 111B, 111C and Model 117 117B, Detectron DS-234, Ludlum Model 19, and many others using 1 inch NaI(Tl) scintillators. These fit right on the popular RCA 6199 and other similar 1.5" PMTs often used in these older detectors. Works well with the PMTs used in many modern scintillator detectors, and makes an inexpensive replacement in 1 inch stand alone scintillator detectors like the Ludlum Model 44-2. NaI(TL) is nice while it lasts, but these scintillation detectors will last indefinitely and are much less expensive. Excellent for use in contamination survey and count rate applications, not for gamma spectroscopy. The cutting and polishing of this plastic can be very difficult and costly without the proper know-how and equipment. Unless you’re going to build dozens of probes, buying a round precut piece from me is much cheaper (and easier) than trying cut, shape and polish it yourself.
