Description: 0142----c.1926 St Louis Cardinals catcher Bill Warwick photos - World Champions Two original photos of "Firman Newton ""Bill"" Warwick, a catcher for the 1926 World Champion St Louis Cardinals. Maybe you old Cards historians have heard of him; we have not. Removed from a photo album which had many family life photos of Warwick. Since Warwick never had a baseball card (that we know of) these photos may be the only original images in existence from this time period. These two pics present Warwick in his new Cardinals uniform! One of the pics he is even wearing his catchers mitt, the other a bat. These two snapshots were most likely taken after signing with the Cardinals in August of 1925. He served as the 3rd string catcher at the end of the 1925 season and the 1926 championship season as well. He was released after the '26 season. When the 1926 World Series began, Warwick was left off the roster, which must have been a huge disappointment, not being able to play against the likes of Ruth and Gehrig. Check out the news clip from 9.14.25 after slugging his only career homerun in a game vs Pittsburgh. We have added several research items for your review, including his years at Penn, as well as several news clippings. Again, in the team pic with his Penn team he is holding his catchers mitt. These research items are NOT included with the sale of the two photos. The photos are in good condition. There are some wrinkles and tears along the edges, but this does not detract from the full body images of Warwick in his Cardinals uniform. The backs have some black paper remnants. There is also a "St Louis Hyatt" handstamp as well. You will also see the photos were id'd with "Daddy" in the lower right corner. Listing and template services provided by inkFrog
